Oct 27 (Reuters) - Bargain hunting drove investors to exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tracking technology companies after shares fell sharply on mixed earnings from heavyweights. The fund's price fell nearly 4% in the week, as mixed results from megacaps like Alphabet (GOOGL.O) weighed on the sector. Tech funds saw inflows of $2 billion in the week to Wednesday, their largest in eight weeks, according to BofA Global Research, which it attributed to investors "buying the dip". The $14 billion ProShares UltraPro QQQ (TQQQ.O) posted net weekly inflows of $68.15 million, even as the price of the fund fell 9.5%. The $46.5 billion Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund and the $9 billion VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH.O) posted net inflows of $205.7 million and $280.6 million, respectively, for the week.

(AP) — One of the people being sued by the Mississippi Department of Human Services over allegations of misspending welfare money has filed a separate lawsuit against Gov. Austin Garrett Smith filed the suit Wednesday and described himself in court papers as “politically powerless.” Smith's suit says Reeves should sue Republican former Gov. The ongoing suit seeks to recover more than $20 million of the roughly $77 million in welfare money that the state auditor said had been misspent between 2016 and 2019, during Bryant's second term as governor. Smith is a nephew of former Mississippi Department of Human Services executive director John Davis. The Democratic nominee for governor, Brandon Presley, said Reeves is tainted by the welfare misspending that occurred when Reeves was lieutenant governor and had power to oversee how the Department of Human Services was operating.

The fundraising software company Blackbaud agreed Thursday to pay $49.5 million to settle claims brought by the attorneys general of 49 states and Washington, D.C., related to a 2020 data breach that exposed sensitive information from 13,000 nonprofits. Blackbaud said in a statement that it expected to pay the full settlement amounts in October. The court, in a 4-1 decision, found that the Indiana constitution does not include a broad right to abortion, allowing Indiana to join 14 other Republican-led states in enforcing abortion bans. Indiana's General Assembly last August passed the first new law state law banning abortion after the U.S. Supreme Court in June overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 ruling that had established a right to abortion nationwide. The law prohibits all abortion with exceptions for rape, incest, lethal fetal abnormalities and to save the mother's life or prevent serious health risk. Planned Parenthood argued in its lawsuit that the law violated the right liberty guaranteed by the state constitution. But Justice Derek Molter, writing for the majority on Friday, said the framers of the state constitution "left the General Assembly with legislative discretion to regulate or limit abortion."

Rep. George Santos' sister, Tiffany, once bilked the landlord of her Queens apartment out of $40,000 in rent, according to court documents. A lawyer for the landlord told Insider Thursday that she has not started making payments. Two lawyers for legal services who represented Devolder Santos in the case didn't immediately return emails seeking comment. On Thursday afternoon, Santos told Insider by text message that he never lived at the Elmhurst apartment. "As for my sisters Perosnal (sic) dealings I'm unaware of them and find it interesting that the struggles of a private citizen newsworthy," Santos told Insider by text.

REUTERS/Mike BlakeJune 21 (Reuters) - Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) has returned to the S&P 500 ESG index, the sustainable investing-focused market index, after the electric car maker added environmental disclosures. The re-inclusion of Tesla is largely symbolic because only about $8 billion in assets track the S&P 500 ESG index, a tiny fraction of the $15.6 trillion in assets that track the S&P 500 index, according to its provider, part of S&P Global (SPGI.N). Tesla was among 39 companies added to the S&P 500 ESG index effective May 1 as part of an annual rebalancing. Other companies added included Chevron (CVX.N) and Fox (FOXA.O), while 23 companies were removed including Exxon (XOM.N) and Oracle (ORCL.N). S&P said it has a review underway that "relates to racial discrimination in Tesla factories," which could impact future scores.

NEW YORK, June 21(Reuters) - Individual investors have given a cold shoulder to Cathie Wood’s ARK Innovation Fund during their searing run this year, but some market watchers believe that may change if risk appetite keeps improving. The $8 billion fund, which outperformed all U.S. equity funds during the pandemic rally of 2020 but suffered a steep fall last year, is up nearly 37% year-to-date, outpacing broader markets. ARK Invest, the fund's parent company, did not respond to a request for comment. Domestic equity funds and ETFs posted a total of $151.3 billion in outflows year to date through June 7th, according to data from trade group the Investment Company Institute. Optimism among individual investors vaulted to a 19-month high in the latest American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) Sentiment Survey.
